Steve and I were chatting about the sketchiness that is Ubuntu themes and how if you change themes shit just randomly seems to stop working. This is obviously one thing they need to work on. The theme i use is Dust, which i think is pretty solid, and doesn’t cause any problems. There is actually an effort by some to make this the official Ubuntu theme.

The fancy dancy applets on the desktop is gDesklets which you can get from the Add/Remove Applications. Don’t add the rss feed one though, i tried pulling TSN feeds, and it just kills the applets. Also, don’t install a lot of themes, Ubuntu doesn’t seem to like that either. I’ve given up on trying to find something different. I’ll stick with my dark brown “Dusk” theme.

This is my desktop for awhile, I’ll keep refining it and the icons over time, but now I’m going to concentrate on the login screen and splash loader.
